"Read Me" Lamp
Arly Cassidy

"I first came up with the idea while looking at Justin's lamp. I liked his pile idea, but didn't want to copy it exactly, so I decided to get more 3-dimensional. By modifying one corner of a cardboard box, I was able to create a stand on which to lean my books as I bolted them one to the other; there are also pieces of wood along the seems to hold the books more firmly together. Two of the three top-layer books are bolted by their back covers, and are thus readable.
The shade is simply pages sewn together, to create a patchwork effect. I used children's books because of their thin flat shape and the colors of the covers."
