6.188: Supplementary 6.001 course 6.081 students
Assignment for March 13

This assignment is due by 4 p.m. on March 13 (Tuesday, note change in date). Please remember to turn in both a soft copy via e-mail to 6.188-submit and a hard copy at the lecture (for this week, 6.081 lecture again). See submission guidelines for more details.
  1. Read sections 9.7 and 9.8 (pages 11-18) from a draft chapter in a book that Hal is working on with Prof. Harry Lewis at Harvard. This will give you some background on public-key encryption and the RSA algorithm, which is the subject of the programming project for these next two weeks.

  2. Complete PS2 on the online tutor
  3. Complete Problems 1-5 of 6.001 Project 1 (you will also need this Scheme file)
  4. As last time, ignore any submission instructions in the project, and submit your project write-up, including commented code and answers to questions, to 6.188-submit by 4 p.m. on March 13. Also turn in a hard copy at lecture to get full credit.
We have made arrangements so that you can use 6.001 lab hours and ask for help from their LAs, although keep in mind that they will probably give priority to their students, especially if a 6.001 project is soon due. Their lab hours are posted here. If you have 6.188-specific questions, send mail to 6.188-staff.
