6.01: Introduction to EECS I
Installing the software on Macs
Note: although an older version of Python comes pre-installed on MacOS X, for this class we will be using Python 2.5.
A. Install Python
The following Python installer should work on MacOS 10.3.9 and later (including 10.4): Python 2.5.1
B. Installing additional Python packages
You should also install numpy, a package that will be used in later labs.
This file is available here: numpy 1.0.3.1.
C. Install and run the SoaR software
If you have the Terminal program open now, close it and restart it. Otherwise, the old version of Python will be used by default and cause trouble downstream.
Download and install the latest version of SoaR for MacOS.
D. Try it!
To run SoaR, simply type the following at the terminal:
/usr/local/bin/SoaR
