Open Source Business Models

Welcome and thank you to Donald Fischer, who will be guest lecturing today! Donald is a Principle at Greylock Partners, which invests in some of the biggest success stories in technology. His areas of focus include enterprise software, software-as-a-service, open source, mobile, and cloud computing.

Donald is a Board Member at Typesafe, where he led Greylock's Series A investment and served as CEO for the company's first year of operations. Before Greylock, Donald was Vice President and General Manager of Online Services at Red Hat, where he oversaw new product launches including Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Amazon EC2. Prior to that, he led product management for Red Hat’s flagship Enterprise Linux product line, the leading commercial open source operating system. Previously, Donald was in consulting and development roles at search pioneer Inktomi (now Yahoo!) and Oracle.
