Supplementary Assignment for 6.833

It is time to write up a brief TVSN-C story for your term project, so fill out the XML template below and send it via email to phw by midnight, Wednesday, April 1. Ascii please, not an attachement. If for some reason you cannot, send a note so saying to Mark and Patrick, so that we can reserve a slot for you in the presentation schedule, also by midnight, Wednesday, April 1.

Sometimes the V part, of prime importance in a thesis, seems a bit much for a term project, for which the V typically instantiates the template: “If I am to get a grade in 6.833, then I need to do a term project.” Accordingly, if a V statement seems unnatural, replace it with a goal statement, instantiating the template: “The goal of the project is....”

No N at this point.

The C hasn't happened yet, so it is a future-tense expectation of C, in bulletized form, rather than the usual C, instantiating the template: “The expected contributions are...”

Term projects will be presented during the final two classes. You will have about 15 minutes, unless it is a joint project, which may allow a bit more, according to how the schedule works out. Your day will be determined by lot, unless you want to volunteer for the earlier class, in which case so indicate via your email to Mark and Patrick.

You are also to provide, for posterity, written documentation in the form of a one or two page VSN-C executive summary, followed by annotated slides, where the annotations are expected to be range from a quarter page to a full page. Someone who has not been to your talk should be able to understand what you have done from your executive summary and your annotated slides. Several representative projects will be the first entries in a permanent 6.xxx archive.

Those doing joint work should supply just one jointly prepared instantiation of the template.
