Message of the Day

Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006

  • The RSS award winners have been posted, along with links to their projects so you can try them out yourselves.
  • Please fill out the Underground Guide evaluations. Not only are these helpful to future students, but also for staff to improve future iterations of the course.
  • It's been a great term! We hope you have enjoyed 6.170.

Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006

  • The next and last lecture is Wednesday Dec. 13., at the end of which the final project awards will be presented.
  • The reflections guidelines have been clarified to reflect that the 1-2 pages are per example.

"Excluding the artifacts, each example should be at most a page of writing. Including the artifacts interspersed in the text, each example should be no more than two pages total. You should turn in 3 to 5 of these annotated examples."

  • Please email your Reflections paper to your original TA by Sunday midnight.

Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006

  • The AFS server mnemosyne, which hosts all of the 6.170 final project lockers, is down until at least 2:30pm today. The status of this server can be monitored here.
Because of this delay, the deadline for the final project is extended to Monday at midnight. The complete project, including user manual, design document and website of jar(s), is due Monday, Dec 4th at midnight.
  • There will be a demo fair on Thursday, Dec 7th, 2-3pm in 32-G449 (the Kiva conference room). Please have a team member setup in advance. In addition to a laptop running your program please prepare a sign with the names of your program and team memers, and optionally a little advertisement of key features.

  • Your final program must be delivered as either a single platform independent jar file or multiple platform specific jar files. Your program should be able to run on Windows, Mac and Linux. All of your deliverables (jar file(s), user manual, final design doc., etc.) should be posted on a user friendly webpage.
