Tuesday, October 16, 2001

• The lecture topics for today and tomorrow have been reversed. Today, Prof. Jackson will talk about the design of the Java Collections API (java.util). Tomorrow, he'll talk about the design of JUnit. Next Monday will be the third case study lecture, explaining the design of the text processing program that Prof. Jackson uses for his lecture notes. These case studies are a new feature of the course, intended to expose to more sophisticated designs than you have seen in the course so far.

• There was a small bug in the staff implementation of RatPoly that is causing some students to fail tests with NaN errors. The bug (and fix) is described in the errata section of the ex2 handout.

• Lectures: L3 (Decoupling 2), L4 (Data Abstraction 1), and L5 (Data Abstraction 2) are available. Changes have been made to Lecture 5 as of today, 6pm, 9/12/2001, so be sure you view the updated version.
