Mathematics for Computer Science

The FLU:

  • A growing number of students on campus have reported flu-like upper respiratory symptoms, including several students & staff in 6.042.

  • If you have flu-like symptoms DO NOT COME TO CLASS, and stay away until the symptoms abate and you have not had a fever in 24 hours.

  • If you are able, notify of your illness. Notes from doctors will not be required for flu-like illnesses. In rare cases, the 6.042 staff may request a note from Student Support Services (S^3).

  • Do not ask MIT Medical for a note to excuse your absence. They need to focus on helping sick students, not course administration. Contact Medical only for medical help.

  • When you are well enough, you can work out with your TA specific arrangements to make up missed work. To make up for excused absences from team-problem solving sessions, we generally ask students to send us detailed comments on the class problems and their solutions ––detailed enough to persuade us that they've learned at least as much about the problem as they would have in class. Suggesting ways to improve the problems and/or solutions, or just a thoughtful identification of confusing or poorly written passages, is a simple way to persuade us.

  • Stay well ––if you can. :-)
