6.01: Introduction to EECS I
Comments on Assignment/PS 5
The assignment was graded out of 30
points. In general, testing
and explanation combined were worth a point on the software lab, while
testing and explanation were worth a point each when coding for the
design lab.
- Software Lab: 4 questions = 12
points
- Question 7: 3 pts
- We did not deduct points for leaving out the delay in the
dependence of V.
- Notice that the function should return the system function not the poles.
- Question 8: 2 pts
- Question 9: 4 pts
- There should be explanations for the behaviors of the
graphs.
- stability ranges for systems with delay in v from d:
- k = 0.0 to 1.3, converges monotonically
- k = 1.3 to 5.0, converges in oscillation
- k = 5.0 to inf, diverges in oscillation
- stability ranges for systems with no delay in v from
d:
- k = 0.0 to 5.0, converges monotonically
- k = 5.0 to 10.0, converges in oscillation
- k = 10.0 to inf, diverges in oscillation
- There should be reasonable discussion for each graph.

Design Lab: 7 questions = 18 pts
- Question 14: 4 pts
- Question 15: 2 pts
- Question 16: 2 pts
- Some students forgot to explain the instrability of the
system in terms of the norms of poles > 1
- Question 18: 2 pts
- Question 19: 3 pts
- Plots should be generated and discussed in order to explain
the behavior of the model.
- Question 20: 3 pts
